The following rates are supplied as a guideline and are negotiable according to the amount of proofreading or editing required and the previous working relationship with the client. All quotes are provided free of charge.

Short Story Special

This is our special service for authors requiring a line edit and proofread for short stories. Some spit and polish before you submit your story to a market or competition.

Short stories up to 8,000 words

A fixed rate of $20 per story.

Manuscript Feedback

This is our budget option for authors who aren't currently able to opt for the full proofreading service or line editing and proofreading package. The manuscript feedback option is designed to give authors guidance on how to polish the manuscript to ensure linguistic and stylistic coherence, correct vocabulary and spelling, and uniform punctuation. The manuscript will not be corrected for you with track changes, but you'll be provided with detailed advice on and concrete examples of the areas you need to address before considering publication.

Documents between 8,000 and 100,000 words

A fixed rate of $50 for first-time clients. Negotiable for return clients.

Manuscript Proofreading Service 

Proofreading is the process of finding and correcting spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors missed in editing. The final draft of a manuscript must be proofread prior to publication to avoid typos and inconsistencies. This often includes fixing mistakes caused by authors accepting incorrect spellcheck suggestions. If your document hasn't been edited, you will most likely require the complete line editing and proofreading package. We can check this together.

Documents between 8,000 and 100,000 words

$5 per thousand words rounded up, capped at $250.

Line Editing and Proofreading Package

Documents up to 100,000 words

While proofreading is the process of checking for sneaky typos and inconsistencies that managed to slip through the author's rounds of edits, the line editing service is for texts requiring a more complete cleanup, which may include the rewriting of certain sections. This is a more thorough process required before a final proofread can take place. Your document will then undergo a final proofread.

$10 per thousand words rounded up, capped at $500.

Manuscripts longer than 100,000 words to be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
